When we first started in 2001, we often joked that we were doing business in a manner decidedly more "cottage" than "cottage industry". We literally started in a cottage that we had built from the fallen timber on our land. We only use well water and and our office, studio and warehouse are solar powered. Sustainability is important to us and we are blessed to celebrate a lifestyle that is in keeping with our values… hence the name “Living Dreams Yarn”! 

We live in a fairly remote rural community nestled in the picturesque foothills of Mt. Rainier in Washington State, USA (upper left hand corner, almost Canada). We love this place and feel connected to the land even though, it's true, we get a lot of rain here. But, we are rewarded with an evergreen landscape,abundant wild life and lush gardens - the natural beauty surrounding us is our constant source of inspiration.

Over the years Living Dreams Yarn has grown into a dynamic network of talented fiber artists, local farmers, independent fiber mills, dye studios, designers, knitters and pattern makers. Business is still personal to us - we collaborate on ideas and enjoy working as a team. We are most proud of the fact that we are bringing income opportunities to so many women artisans and female business owners in our rural community.

It was Tanja’s passion for hand dyed fiber and a lifetime of knitting that inspired her to design her first line of colorful roving yarn. When it became popular, she was looking for ways to expand the product range without compromising quality. To this day we remain dedicated to natural fibers and do our part to keep the fiber arts alive in this fast paced digital world.

We chose a logo that is inspired by the Greek meander motif, which symbolizes the bonds of love, friendship and the flow of creative energy.

We very much share the love of color and creativity with our customers. It is our greatest joy to see your creative dreams come true with the help of our yarn and fiber. Above all, we are makers FOR makers and this flow of creative energy is what unites us!
