How did you get started crafting?
I got started crafting at a really young age making all sorts of necklaces, drawings, paintings, that later evolved into making pottery and wall weavings. I just had the inspiration 3 years ago from weavings I saw online or in person, then felt very drawn to making my own. I taught myself and studied through videos & books how to weave on various size frame looms. Now, I sell my weavings to stores, vend at the local markets in Vermont where I live, make custom designs for special orders & sell online.
What inspires your creativity?
I am inspired creatively by nature, colors, textures, materials and clothing design that I see or wear in every day life. I am constantly taking mental notes and receiving input from the outer world on color schemes I like, that I then put into my weaving work. I also love the esthetic & energy of gemstones, so I have been incorporating that into my weavings by sewing them on.
What types of projects do you love to create?
I love creative projects that I can let my imagination run wild and free! Sometimes, I have set ideas of what I’m about to create & also enjoy just picking out a few colors to then let the design naturally form as I go along. I enjoy mixing materials in my projects. I walk up and down the shoreline of the river by my home, finding driftwood to hang the wall weavings from. I also love to make weavings of any size, using organic cotton yarn and fluffy roving I get from Living Dreams Yarn!
