Did you know that your new linen pants are made from flax?
Flax, also known as linen, is an eco-friendly fiber made from the stem of the flax plant. Flax Linen Fiber is tough, breathable, and cool to the touch. flax linen fiber is much prized for adding longevity and a lovely drape to yarns.
Treasured for its extremely durable fiber, flax has been a favorite for centuries for traditional household items like dish towels and bedding. Lately it has made a huge comeback as the fiber of choice for high quality summer garments. We love it because it is so comfortable to wear in hot weather. Also, flax has that unique characteristic of becoming softer with every wash.
Sadly, flax fiber for textile use is not grown in the US any more - we have to import it from Europe. But we are very happy to offer Flax dyed with low impact dyes that complies with Europe's very strict environmental standards.
All our vegan fibers are rigorously tested to meet strict GOTS and Oeko-Tex standards. This means they are guaranteed to be free from harmful substances often found in manufacturing, such as formaldehyde, phthalates, and heavy metals.
Flax, like all cellulose fiber production in the USA in general, is on the upswing again and we hope to one day in the near future have all our fiber ingredients come directly from US producers. You can be assured that we always look for the safest products on the market - those that are kind to animals, humans and the planet.
